TYPES OF BUSH FIRES
Ground fire- A ground fire can occur in any conditions where their is heat, coal (mine fire), tree roots or other materials grow underneath the ground. Ground fires can burn through the surface and then become a surface fire.
Surface fire- Surface fires are low to high intensity fires that burn on the surface of the ground. A tree canopy may be scorched but will not be able to burn to the extent to carry a fire.
Crown fire- A crown fire happens fires of extreme intensity. A crown fire is a fire that burns and spreads through the canopy or crown of trees. The influence of wind is greater in the tree canopy from this the fire can spread quite quickly.
